It’s that time, isn’t it? What time? That time. That time when it’s Fall one day and Summer the next. It’s the time of year when people seem to succumb to the vagaries of the weather and sniff a little more, cough a little more as their bodies try to adjust to the changeable weather. It’s as if we’re between seasons and it can go either way on any given day. Sure the experts tell us when Summer officially ends and Fall begins. However, it’s not that straightforward. It’s not that straightforward in life either. You transition from one phase to the next. You find yourself between seasons. How do you pray? Here are 3 important tips for praying between the seasons.
Pray for Endurance when Praying between the Seasons
You may be experiencing hardship now. Your hardship may be in one or more areas—physical, financial, spiritual, emotional. You sense that God is getting ready to shift your season. You see the signs that this is about to happen. However, you are not there yet. Pray for endurance between the seasons. You may also be waiting for God’s promises to be fulfilled in your life. The fulfillment has begun but you’re not fully there yet. Even if you’re shifting to a harder time, when praying between the seasons, ask God for endurance.
And because of the increase of lawlessness, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved (Matthew 24:12–13).
Jesus is talking about what will happen between the season of his first coming and his return. You can apply it to any in-between season. If you endure in him you will be saved. Ask God for endurance and that your love for God will grow hotter.
Pray for a Solid Footing Between the Seasons
There is a changeability, inconclusive nature of things between seasons that can leave you floundering. You experience this even if it’s only a feeling and not the reality. Thus, you are thrown off balance. Pray for a solid footing. Ask God to keep you grounded in God. God will do for you as God did for the Psalmist.
He made my feet like the feet of a deer,
and set me secure on the heights (Psalm 18:33).
This sense of floundering is but a reminder to put your hope in God. God is reminding you to find your security in God. Thus, regardless of the transitional nature of life, you will stand. Pray for a solid footing when praying between the seasons.
Pray for Hope when Praying Between the Seasons
Hope will keep you going. This is not a vain and futile hope. This is not an airy-fairy hope. This is hope that is guaranteed by God. You know that regardless of the fluidity of the seasons and your life, God’s promises are true. With the strength to endure and your feet on solid footing, God is bringing you through to your new season. In addition, you have an eternal hope in Jesus Christ. You are assured of a promised end—to be forever with the Lord.
And not only that, but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us (Romans 5:3–5).
Fix your eyes on Jesus Christ and ask God to keep you steadfast in hope. Whether you’re moving to an easier season or a harder season, remember your hope.
Whether you are in between seasons personally and/or nationally and/or globally, when praying between the seasons ask God for endurance, a solid footing, and hope. Do this and you will thrive and make it to the other side with rejoicing.
