When you hit the last Sunday in January, is the year still a new thing? That’s where we are today. By now, hopefully, you’ve adjusted to the fact that you’re in a new year, 2015. While the year is still relatively new in that we have 11 months and 6 more days to go, it’s not that new anymore. You’re at a stage where you know whether or not the new thing or new things you had anticipated doing in 2015 are happening.
Don’t Miss God’s New Thing
On the surface, that’s easy, knowing whether or not you’re keeping up with the new thing(s) you’d set yourself. If you were anticipating keeping up with a new diet, a new practice such as more intentional prayer and devotional life, you know whether or not it is happening. At a deeper level, a new thing could be happening right in front of you and you could miss it. That’s why we find these verses in Isaiah 43:18-19:
Do not remember the former things,
or consider the things of old.
I am about to do a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
and rivers in the desert.
Yes. You can be so fixated on the past that you miss the new thing God is doing around you and in your life. You can also be so aware of where you’re lacking that you miss the new thing God is doing around you and in your life. That’s the challenge of meeting the new thing. A new path, a new way of God’s provision, and yet you miss it.
That happens with me and SurrenderInPrayer sometimes. It is a new thing, relatively speaking. Just a few months old. It takes time to get the word out and sometimes I am so aware of this that I miss the weight of the new things God is doing in the middle of this new thing.
Daily SIPpers—the New Thing
Daily SIPpers is a new thing that God is doing in SurrenderInPrayer. It’s part of our mandate to call people to pray. It’s part of our mandate to be the place where those who want to experience God more fully do so through honest, surrendered, heart praying and live with greater clarity and peace.
So what makes Daily SIPpers different from everything else that’s out there? What makes it a new thing?
First, it’s targeted rather than general. Thus, it might not be the new thing you need.
You see, Daily SIPpers is for those who want to go deeper. It is based on SurrenderInPrayer’s mandate. Each week the 6 daily inspirational messages and 1 meditation are geared to allow you to go deeper in a particular life area, know how to apply Scripture to your life. They come with prayers of surrender and for strength to live out the lesson. Moreover, you get to choose whether to read them or listen to them. Yes. It comes in both text and audio versions. You’ll also find out mistakes to avoid in seeking to experience God more fully. Why reinvent the wheel? In addition, each month there is an online chat/discussion time where you raise questions that have arisen for you and pray together.
Yes. God is doing a new thing in your life and around you, as God is doing in my life and in SurrenderInPrayer. You get to choose whether or not you want and how much you want to be part of the new thing.
You can find out more about Daily SIPpers here.
Until the next time, be sure to look around you and see God’s new thing.
Experience God more fully through honest, surrendered heart praying and live with greater clarity and peace.
